Me and Mitchell
At 2:30 on the 30th of July, I opened the doors of the local café for my book launch. With live music from Avabelle and special guest Josh Reid from CBCA Illawarra, the event was going to be memorable. There was even the cake ready. The event started with acknowledging Country – paying respects to the First Nation people of the Dharawal Country – and all other formalities. The first song was Immorality, played beautifully by Ava on her guitar. Then I asked our special guest Josh a few questions about how he got into writing and the challenges of writing. He asked me a few questions, and I explained how I got the idea for my book. Then Ava played while I sold and signed my books. The event was memorable; friends, family came to support my new journey. I cut the cake that was designed to look like the book and had the main character looking out for those walking by.
The event lasted two and a half hours, with people coming in towards the end to get their copies. With the beautiful weather we had, people had other commitments and apologised. Those that turned up had some cake and a coffee and bought a book. With plenty of books to sell, I am looking forward to handing them over to each person that wants a copy.
