Happy Monach's Birthday

Today is the day to celebrate the Monach’s Birthday, whether that was the Queen or the King. When I wrote my story, I didn’t know what the future was going to bring, but not it is the present, but I am keeping the story how I have it. That includes my direction for the royal family. I created 1500 years or so of a royal family tree, starting from the 11th century. I created generations of royalty down to the Queen of the 26th century. It took weeks of writing and planning and coming up with the royal family history. Coming up with names were the easiest part, since Royalty follow a certain guideline but coming up with a tree that stretches centuries was tricky when working out who would come next and what they would do to impact the world.

With King Charles now on the throne, we won’t forget the dedication of Queen Elizabeth II had for the past decades and the difference she did during her reign.

Sealed, Signed and Ready to Deliver

Thursday the 16th, the two boxes of books arrived at my house; from Unanderra after I paid for the other 50% on the Wednesday. I paid for two extra books; they printed 27 instead of 25. I signed the first box of books Friday afternoon. On the Sunday, I signed the rest of the books. That’s 27 books signed and ready to be given out.

Celebration and Challenges

Yesterday was the second year anniversary of having my book published on Amazon. It has been a long journey since 2022 when I first published the Ebook to now where I have three books as Print on Demadn and four as Ebooks. Yesterday I decided to do what I normally do on a Wednesday and go to the Tradies and have lunch, do my writing session; but this time I dressed up, wore my yellow bow tie and brought Mitchell along with me. Last week I completed a chapter that spans a long period of time in the timeline of the story. Now I am up to writing a chapter that will challenge myself. Writing outside my normal strengths.

I won’t know how long it will take me to write the last few chapters of the Novel, I have 3-4 left to write before. But I hope to finish the novel by the end of the year. Right now I have a challenge in terms of surviving with the cost of living. It’s been two years and my sales have flatlined leaving me trying to find a way to bring life to the market again. I am trying to have subscribers on my Instagram and subscribers (or a mailing list) here. If you are interested in knowing reasons behind characters names, plots or get the inside scoop of what is to come, click on the button below. If you click the photo, you will go to a new page that will show images that highlight the past two years. Speaking of pages, have you come across the hidden page on my website? Celebrating 2 years as a self-published Author.

Back to Writing! Time to go on Air!

For the past few weeks, I have returned to writing my novel after a two week break or so. It is good to resume the writing process and speaking to others who are interested in my book. Giving me encouragement and support. Since I have not had any major work in the last three months, I have had plenty of time to resume my fifth book. I have caught up with mentors, with my writing group in person, but now I am back to my usual routine of writing two to three times a week.

The only catch with being a self-published author is that you do your own promotion, on marketing and there is little you get back. I am still trying to track down thirty people willing to pre-order the second book so I can order them. I am not giving up, I am just struggling to make a living.

Another idea that could help raise awareness of my book is to be a guest on a podcast, speak to someone about my book, the process of writing etc. I just don’t know what podcasts are there. I would like to start local before expanding. I did do something last year, where I spoke on my local radio station, but I would like to do more than just a five minute interview.

Therefore if you know ANY podcasts that do books, young adult novels, please comment below.

Once every 4 years

Today is a rare day, it only happens every four years, it’s the extra day in the leap year. Yes, it’s the 29th of February. This gives me an extra 24 hours to add to my story, less than that if you exclude the hours of sleep. It also happens to be Tana Chimes birthday - or day she is born - in another 500 or so years.

Tana Chimes is a Time Walker, she has been researching the past by stepping back in time and gathering information and collecting artifacts before they are destroyed or lost. She owns a library in North Dakota and has the biggest collection of antiques. She is an orphan. She hires Mitchell to be her security guard and helps him with his missions to protect the world. You can discover more about Tana in the first book of the Immortal Legacy Series “Age of the Immortal” and follow her journey.

Tana Chimes

I have this crazy notion to print 30 copies of the Immortal and the Hex, but I will have to wait until I have thirty people interested in my area. Until then let’s celebrate the Leap Year Day.

Back to Norm, (with some magical memories)

It’s been almost two weeks since I returned from the holiday on the cruise, I am back to norm. I finished writing my memories down, sorted out the pictures and relived moments. I am thankful that Princess Belle took my business card - she does like reading after all - and I am glad for the opportunity to talk about my career even if it was in passing or second hand. There wasn’t a week break, I went back to my regular writing workshops, continuing on a Chapter in my fifth and final book of the series.

The Author and the Princess that likes to read

My plan is to finish writing Book number 5 by middle of the year and then start to edit it and see how long it takes to get it done. I will be doing the two days a week and more of writing, all depending on how much, I get done each week.

As the new year is here, I would like new material for social media and promoting, if you have a book at home, please send a picture of the book in some environment. With a pet, with a cup, outside, indoors, please the various new images I get the more I can promote my book.

Have a Wonderful 2024

First blog for the year, I have been on writing break for the past few weeks, may have put a few things down on pencil to be typed later. Mid-January, I went on official holiday and left Australian soil to step onto foreign land as well as spend 6 nights upon open ocean and take photos with characters out of movies and books. During this break I did manage to give my business cards to a few people on the trip and it is a way to advertise my career in a new means. Now that 2024 is almost one month into it, I am hoping that everyone has a wonderful 2024, full of adventure, mystery, romance and a little bit of drama.

Feel free to ask questions, comment or even just say hi.

Last Blog for the Year

This December has been eventful, after I finished the NaNoWriMo, I returned to working on the fifth book of the series. I planned a stall for the Market in Wollongong and juggled everything else that needs to happen as the end of the year approaches.

Yesterday, I attended the Crown Street Markets in Wollongong and it was a warm day and it was quite busy. I had a few sales and several conversations. I still have over 30 books from the first 100 I printed off to sell. If you know anyone interested, let them know.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday, a safe Christmas and all the best for 2024. Thank you for reading my short blogs and look forward to telling you more in the new year.

The final stretch

4 weeks, today is the second last day of National Novel Writing Month and I have written over 48000 words in the last 29 days. I have written at all hours of the day from 8:30 in the morning to 9 p.m. I have written in one session or over two or three. I have only 1660ish words left to write for the final day. The fifth chapter of the novel is almost complete and that is only half of the story or so. The writing process has been crazy, some days draining, other times satisfying. My head hurt some days from the thoughts, other days I was emotional. The whole month of November has been a crazy ride. I am on the final stretch, the last mile (1.035204 miles if each meter was a word).

Today I wrote during wind, rain and thunder. I completed the 1667 words while it poured overhead. With threat of loss of power. I wanted to make sure I completed the goal for today. With one day left, I have done over 30 scenes, each with a different length of words. Every 6 days, I tried a new tactic. I am pleased with my result. When I return to this story, I don’t know but it has started and that is all because of NaNoWriMo.
